When a child develops cancer and the family finds itself in sudden financial need due to the lengthy treatment, the affected families may contact the HUC Foundation directly or through the treating hospital.

Financial support is granted for:

• Travel expenses for trips from the child’s home to the day clinic during maintenance therapy
• Day care for siblings
• Spitex bills
• Medicines that are not covered by health insurance
• Costs for the necessary low-germ diet, which often puts a heavy burden on the family’s budget
• Loss of the mother’s salary when she is in hospital taking care of her child
• Support for rehabilitation
• Costs of transportation and cryopreservation of ovarian tissue in affected female children
