HUC is proud to announce that we have initiated the project Paediatric Oncology in Cambodia at the Angkor Hospital for Children in Siem Reap. With the creation of a new job, a 100% position as an oncology nurse, many children can be helped long-term.
The Angkor Hospital for Children is the only hospital outside of the capital Phnom Penh that treats childhood cancer.
Please donate to this project!
Following the genocide by the Khmer Rouge (1975-79), only a few health workers survived, and surgical care had to be rebuilt from scratch.
- There are fewer than 30 trained specialist oncology nurses treating children nationwide.
- For those that have access to medical care, the cost of treatment or travel is unaffordable for many families – especially the poorest living in rural areas. One in five Cambodians lives on less than CHF 2.50 a day.
